For His Name's Sake

Time and again, we read in Scripture of God saving Israel not because she was faithful . . . but for His name’s sake. Let us pray today: Lord, save our nation, for Your Name’s sake!
America was established by God fearing men and women on biblical principles. In our public buildings, across the nation in city halls and district courts, state capitol buildings, federal congressional and executive offices, and in the Supreme Court, the immutable Word of God is engraved into the very walls. These words—Scriptures, mottos and commandments—testify to the people’s trust in God.  Lord, save our nation, for Your Name’s sake!
In our founding documents, and in the prayers and journals of our nation’s founding fathers, are acknowledgments of God—His sacredness and sovereignty—and petitions for His grace, guidance, protection and provision. Lord, save our nation, for Your Name’s sake!
With every recitation of the pledge to the flag, our national banner, we acknowledge we are “one nation under God.” With every piece of currency, on every coin and dollar that passes from one hand to another, we declare “in God we trust.” Lord, save our nation, for Your Name’s sake!
Regardless of the opinions of some, the world, for the most part, considers America a Christian nation. We are carriers of His name, even as we live in a humanistic, pleasure-seeking, me-centered society. America bears the name of Jesus in the fiber of her national identity. Lord, save our nation, for Your Name’s sake!
Jesus, return this great nation, America the beautiful, to her Judeo-Christian roots, and let Your glory fill our land. Bring another great awakening and revival to America in our generation. Return us to our biblical foundations in the precious name of Jesus.
God, shed Your grace on America again: the grace that saves and teaches us to live soberly and righteously in this world, to bring glory and honor to You, for sin is a reproach to any people, but righteousness exalts a nation. Lord, save our nation, for Your Name’s sake!
